HP are at it again with their latest update to the printers that take the HP63 and HP65 cartridges. This also affects the HP63XLand HP65XL cartridges.
Printers that have been updated include the HP Deskjet 2600 series, HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2600, 5000 and 5200 series, HP Envy 5000 series, and HP Officejet 5200 series printers manufactured after May 1, 2018. All other printers that take the HP63 or HP65 cartridges will continue to work with our current cartridges.
Any of the above printers manufactured after May 1, 2018 requires a new chip on the cartridge, which we are unable to supply at present. We expect to have the new chips available in early 2019, but until then the cartridges we supply will not work in the new printers.
There is no easy way to tell when your printer was manufactured, but if you purchased it after August 2018 there is a good chance that you will have problems using compatible cartridges in the printer. For now the safest option if you have a new printer is to use genuine cartridges until we can get the updated chip from our supplier.
